e.Brary is a collection of over 42,000 academic electronic books from a wide variety of top scholarly and professional publishers. Concentrations are in the areas of Business & Economics, Computers & Technology, Humanities, the Social Sciences, and more.
How to Access e.Brary: You can access e.Brary e-books by clicking on the e.Brary logo above. When you are off campus, once you have clicked the e.Brary link, you will be immediately prompted for your VIU username and password. (If you don't know your VIU log-in, please see CLICK HERE.) Once you have logged on, the e.Brary search page will open.
How to Set up an e.Brary Account and Bookshelf : With e.Brary's new interface, all you have to do to set up your own personalized online bookshelf is to log on (if you are off campus) or sign in (if you are on campus). In fact, when you are off campus, your bookshelf is automatically set up the first time you access e.Brary. When on campus, you need to click either the "Sign in" link or the Bookshelf tab, and insert your user name and password when prompted. Once you have logged on, you will see the name of your personalized e.Brary account near the top right of the page .
How to Search e.Brary: To search the full text and key fields of all 42,000+ books in e.Brary simultaneously, key in a word or phrase in the search box on the search page and click the search button. To do a more precise search such as for a particular author, title, subject, or publisher, click the advanced search link, key in one or more search words in the search form, and select the desired type of search. You may add more search boxes as needed.
How to Read an e.Brary Book: To read an e.Brary book, you can either click the title or the "e.Brary reader" button beside it. Whichever reader interface you choose, you can page through the book by using the backward and forward buttons or go to a specific page number, or click on a heading in the Contents sidebar. In some books, the indices are hyperlinked.
How to Use e.Brary's Special Features: If you are on campus, you must sign in to be able to place a book onto your own electronic bookshelf, highlight, annotate, and bookmark. If off campus, you will automatically be signed in when you insert your VIU user name and password.
